Veteran's Pension
Find out all you need to know about the Veteran's Pension.
If you want to get Veteran's Pension, you need to meet certain criteria.
You can read about the criteria on our 'Who can get Veteran's Pension' page. Or you can use our step-by-step guide.
Find out how to apply for Veteran's Pension and what documents you need to provide.
How much you get for Veteran's Pension depends on your situation and what tax code you use.
Get other income
If you or your partner get other income as well as Veteran's Pension, it may affect your Veteran's Pension payments.
Getting other income may also mean the tax code you use could change. This means you could get less for your Veteran's Pension payments, it depends what tax code you're on.
Veteran's Pension is paid fortnightly on a Tuesday.
There are obligations you need to meet while getting Veteran's Pension. If you don't do them, your payment could reduce or stop.
This includes telling us about any changes that might affect what you're entitled to or how much you get paid.
For example, this could be changes to your:
- relationship
- address, or
- tax code.
Have a partner included in your Veteran's Pension
If you have a partner and they're included in your Veteran's Pension, there are things they'll need to do as well.
If you get Veteran's Pension and you're going overseas, you may still be able to be paid. It depends if you're going overseas for a holiday or going to live overseas.
You or your partner may qualify for a pension from another country - this is called an overseas pension. If you or your partner do qualify for an overseas pension, it may affect payments you get from us.
If someone getting Veteran's Pension dies, the surviving partner or dependent child may be able to get extra help from us.
