Hiring migrant workers

You may be looking to hire a migrant on an Accredited Employer Work Visa (AEWV). If you are, and you're filling an ANZSCO Skill Level 4 or 5 vacancy, you need to contact us.

We'll check the labour market supply for your role. This is to ensure that New Zealanders are considered for jobs where there are no skills shortages.

What you need to know

You must have accreditation with Immigration New Zealand before you can hire a migrant worker, but you can contact us to list the role without being accredited.

You need to work with us directly when we look for people in your area to fill your role. You can't appoint an immigration professional, like a Licensed Immigration Adviser (LIA), to do this for you.

  • any pre-employment checks required.

We'll check the local labour market supply to see if there are people in the area who meet your requirements.

  • If there are, we'll contact you about listing the vacancy and refer these people to you.
  • If there aren't, we'll send you verification to accompany your Job Check application.
